Are you trying to hire someone, or perhaps you'd like to edit your own
video and you're looking for recommendations?

I took a HD video on the iPhone4 and I can't email it at 950Mb so I'm
looking for a solution.

Ideally I'd like to present it in HD but can't email it across my
Comcast email account.

There's plenty of room to crop about half of if that's motionless junk.

I tried Camedia (sp?) 7.0 but it wasn't helpful.

Sorry I (probably i can say 'we') don't really know what you are looking
for.

From my own experience i can only say that PinnacleStudio (i think by now
it's version 12) is a good solution for video editing, rendering and
finalizing.
It can handle most common video formats and resolutions, even up to
something like 3000 x 3000.

For simple purposes you can also use MS movie maker which is part of Windows
Live.

And why do you want to turn it into a shellfish?

The movie could already be in a compressed format, and at 930MB, that
is pretty big to begin with. I might be tempted to extract a few key
frames, keep the sound track, and make a slide show :) That would
save a *lot* of space.

Alternately, if you want another oddball solution, upload the
video to Youtube, and let them do the compression :) According to
this, with some luck, you'll fit within their file size limit. Then,
just give a URL link to your friend.

If you want a list of video editors, there are some here. But
I should warn you, that some of the free ones are a giant waste
of time. You sit there for two hours, while the result is rendering,
only to find the output file is garbage. If you want the job done
in reasonable time, with good odds the output file is usable,
look for a commercial tool. I wasted two weeks playing with free crap,
and am not too happy with the results. A few of the commercial ones,
may offer a 30 day fully functional trial, and you could give one of
those a try for your project. But if the 930MB file is
already in a compressed format (most likely), then don't
expect real file savings unless you do something drastic
to the format (like maybe drop it to 160x120 pixels).

In any case, expect to waste a lot of time on your project.
I certainly wasted a lot of time on mine.

I was able to do some simple things in Windows Movie Maker
(part of my WinXP install), but that tool is rather limited
in accepting input file formats, or making useful output
file formats. So while you can tell your friends "I know
how to use a video editor", using WMM isn't much of an
achievement. To actually get something useful out of there,
you can hand edit some of the filters, transitions and
the like, to add functions to the editor. I just gave up
at that point. If I was serious about this stuff, spending
some money on a real editor is called for.

Most email systems will balk at receiving an email larger than 10MB. Some
public email systems will object to even sending an email over 5MB in size.

I suggest you give up on email unless you seriously compromise on length and
quality. Otherwise you could try the likes of www.transferbigfiles.com

Hope this helps.
