Google email gadget

A certain number of the Google sidebar gadgets for W7 are useful like
News, Google desktop search, analog clock, stock market values and
Scratchpad. Google has just announced an email announcer but it seems to
me that it only works with Outlook and Gmail not with Thunderbird and
other programs. Am I missing something since I don't use Gmail or
Outlook for mail?

Yes you are missing something! You are missing something because it
does not require Outlook for mail because it only works and indeed
requires Google Desktop downloadable from here:

<http://desktop.google.com/en/GB/>

However, you are not missing anything because It only works with GMAIL
so what are you waiting for? Why not start using GMAIL?

Most email provides have some sort of announcer:

Microsoft, Yahoo, AOL, Google they all have some sort of instant
announcer to clog up your system as if Windows is not enough to slow it
down on its own.

I'm not going to get into a Windows/Unix argument on this ng but, you
know, I used to like Biff. I won't be using Gmail and, in fact, I am
considering a total block of Gmail ng posts (with a few exceptions.)

What's a GMail ng post? Do you mean Google Groups?

Google's weather/temperature gadget for W7 can be distinctly flaky. Just
now, it's showing a temperature range of H42/L35 and an actual
temperature of 46.

Maybe the first pair of numbers is the forecast high & low, while the
third number is the actual temperature. If so, it's not a problem with
the gadget, it's just a forecaster who got the forecast wrong.

I am sure most people will agree with you here but sometimes we don't
have a choice. I use Google Docs to distribute training instructions to
college students and for some reasons best known to them, they have
blocked one document but when I created another document with the same
content, it was not blocked. For example these links were blocked from
appearing in one of the newsgroups:

Blocked:
<https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=15rI55M49Y5lFIBfGKV3LDLPKhYSTXDyoI_KTIgozTSU>

Not blocked:
<http://tinyurl.com/695hayc>
<https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&...MzM3OS00M2ExLWEwM2QtOWIzYjFmNTBiNzUz&hl=en_GB>

I use to write a blog about Microsoft, Google and Yahoo and that too was
censored heavily so I just gave up.

I do have a tendency to write colorful language but as long as it is
factually correct, I don't see why it should be blocked.
