Folders being created with hidden attribute

Ever since I installed Win 7 I've noticed that some folders are being created with hidden & read-only attributes. These are NOT system folders, but my own personal folders that I am creating on a separate partition.

Even stranger, whenever I try to take ownership (security permission setting), the new setting doesn't seem to take properly and it's a complete PITA to try to remove the read only & hidden attributes. I have two admin accounts on my system (the 2nd one is a backup for myself) and it seems to happen with both accounts. Any ideas?

Any New Folder as well as any other folder has "Read-Only" on, and you can't change this attribute, it'll always come back.

Well that is obvious. Since this is the first time I've seen this problem, I'm asking for a possible solution or explanation!

Can you give an example?

Only system files should be hidden and even that can be changed with windows explorer settings. Organize ... Folder and Search Options ... View tab. Show hidden files, folders, and drives. Uncheck Hide empty drives. Uncheck Hide protected operating system files <- if you do this one, you may start seeing files in folders such as desktop.ini. Although desktop.ini is safe to delete (it simply holds the display structure you picked for this folder) there are other system files you should not delete.

Windows 7 will also lock files such as My Documents, etc. These files are part of the Libraries structure and so W7 tries to control how they are accessed. W7 tries to keep you from going directly to c:\Users\YourUserId\My Documents because it wants you to use My Documents under Libraries instead. This can be overridden with the Take Ownership script if you require less W7 controlled access.

There solution in that link was to restore and when that failed to reinstall W7 !!! With a light like that I think it may be better to curse the dark.
