Please help :(

I have a series of BSOD'S going on sometimes can be continues every 5 mins, from surfing web to doing nothing. Never had this problem like this until W7

this is from my last dump file-

and apparently these are to blame-

ntkrnlpa.exe ntkrnlpa.exe+3d8fa 0x83408000 0x8381b000 0x00413000 0x503f7f43 30/08/2012 14:57:07 Microsoft® Windows® Operating System NT Kernel & System 6.1.7601.17944 (win7sp1_gdr.120830-0333) Microsoft Corporation C:\Windows\system32\ntkrnlpa.exe

win32k.sys win32k.sys+bce3a 0x9b6e0000 0x9b931000 0x00251000 0x50ad942d 22/11/2012 02:55:41 Microsoft® Windows® Operating System Multi-User Win32 Driver 6.1.7600.16385 (win7_rtm.090713-1255) Microsoft Corporation C:\Windows\system32\win32k.sys

OK, the files you listed there are windows OS files and if your windows updates are up-to-date (running Service Pack 1, etc) then it is highly unlikely that they are the cause of your problem, they simply are processing at the time. The problem is usually an out-dated or poorly written third-party driver (or a virus).

You need to follow the instructions in this thread HERE.
- actually provide details about your computer (make/model? how long have you had the computer? how long since you installed W7? any recent hardware/software? etc),
- run a virus scan in safe mode as explained in the thread (tdsskiller, rkill, then full scan),
- and zip and post your actual DMP files.

That attachment worked so I cleaned up the thread a bit.

Is that the IQ500 model HP Touchsmart?

Unfortunately the DMPs are beyond my abilities ... they point to windows OS files which tends to be a catch-all situation and means a more in-depth analysis is needed and I don't have those skills. Our current volunteer BSOD expert, Shintaro, is currently in training and often isn't seen for a week or so, so I don't know when he will get a chance to look.

When I look at the HP site I see they haven't done much in the way of updated drivers for the IQ500 and so it might be best to go to the component manufacturers for, at a bare minimum, new video drivers. It looks like you might have an Nvidia GEForce 9300M but you need to verify that and get the driver from HERE.

In all likelihood it is an incompatible driver causing trouble so maybe you could start there and hopefully Shintaro gets a chance to look at your DMP file. Sorry I couldn't do more.

Oh, one more thing, run:
sfc /scannow
from a command prompt (under Accessories), just to verify your OS files aren't damaged.

At least one of the Touchsmart 600s I saw in the HP drivers list includes a BIOS update. I would encourage you to install the BIOS update if one is available. It is important that this not be done in a thunderstorm or other time when power supply is "iffy". A BIOS update usually takes under 30 seconds but it is important that power is not lost during that time.

Also if you truly believe a driver you installed made things worse you can always go to control panel > device manager and find the device you installed and use the "rollback driver" option in the properties. But I would encourage you to try it after any BIOS fix and see if it is still a problem because the latest drivers should make things better, not worse.

For BIOS and driver updates always install only the most current one, they are not incremental so you only want the latest (see release date). Also for drivers, always be sure to pick the correct bit-size because 32 and 64-bit drivers are rarely the same (although sometimes both come packaged together). BIOS is independent of the OS so for that you just need the correct one for your particular motherboard.

Well the most intense is usually your graphics (video card), so besides the BIOS I do suggest you try updating the video. Then try it a few days and post back any new DMP files.
