Have twice downloaded and tried to install software/ driver package for HP
Scanjet 2400, both times it failed to install. Ran HP troubleshooter which
basically said run Windows Update, disable Services, Startup items, restart
PC and try again. Didn't work.
Tried to uninstall using this option in the package, that didn't work
either, I suppose since it didn't install it can't be uninstalled.
Then installed VueScan which I have used in the past and it's a nice little
program but when I try to run it it brings up that it's looking for
something on a disc or network which isn't there, obviously something to do
with the failed HP install. If I cancel out of that message a few times
VueScan appears to work but only intermittently and sometimes scanned images
come up with a green tint.
I have an HP folder in my Programs folder but deleting this makes no
difference.
How can I get totally rid of any traces of the HP software so that I can try
VueScan?
If that doesn't work is it possible that the scanner itself is faulty?
Any advice appreciated.
