A little more details, please. Is your computer homemade or retail? Did you upgrade or do a clean install? Did you upgrade parts in a older computer to make Windows 7 run? Please give us the make & model of your computer, any modifications to the hardware, what OS was previously used, you should be getting the point by now.

Hi Junedraza and welcome,

The task bar and icons disappearing would normally be due to an Explorer.exe error meaning it has stopped responding and closes then restarts. The first thing I would check is that you have not accidently hidden you desktop icons and taskbar. To check right click on the desktop, go to view and make sure show desktop icons is ticked. When your taskbar is there, right click on it, go to properties and make sure that auto hide is not ticked. (Better to start with the basics as they can occasionally save a lot of time.)

If neither of these things are the issue you could check your event log to see if there is anything there that may shed some light on the issue. If needed you can press the windows key + r to bring up "Run" and type in Explorer. This should restart the process for you so you can get to event viewer. (Click the Start button. In the Search box, type EventViewer, and then, in the list of results, double-click EventViewer.)

I will have a look around and see if I can find anything on this issue in other forums.

Be back soon.

After reading a little into others that have had this issue it seems to point to a Trojan called Vundo that is causing your issues. To fix this run an anti spyware program such as SuperAntiSpyware and let it remove the Trojan. This should fix your problem. http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html

Hope it helps.

Thanks, that helps. You did right to do a clean install. This is one thing that you can try for free from Microsoft. Download Windows Live Safety Scanner (using IE) and make sure that you select the Vista/Windows 7 version, select Full Scan and it will download and install itself. It will detect invalid registry entries, open ports, etc. When the program finishes, apply the recommended choices. One other thing: After you did your clean install, did you update your computer? There must be a simple answer to this, since you haven't stated you were having problems beforehand. Try the first suggestion and see what happens.

If it was me, I would just do another "clean install" and delete all partitions, if any. Then reformat the drive and begin your install process. You'll just keep screwing around with the same problem and all it will do is drive you crazy!

Try to download all the latest available Windows 7 drivers that are available for your computer's hardware and install them too. A handy little program is: Driver Genius Professional. It will automatically scan your computer and download all the latest drivers and install them for you.

PM me if you need some assistance. Reinstall your antivirus software too, it's important to have one installed and working these days.
