I understand that EPUB is open source. Using Google I was not able to
figure out which site is for EPUB.

Can someone either suggest a good way to convert this to pdf or which
site is the safe main site for the program.

epub is not a site, its a file format.
To read it you will need an epub reader or try
opening it with a text reader. Once opened, you should
be able to "save as". Try Calibre.

EPUB is not a website or a program, it's a open source file format for
eBooks. Most any eBook device can handle the EPUB format, this includes
Amazon's Kindle, Barnes & Noble's Nook, Sony Reader, and iPhone/iPad.
In addition to the free apps for the Kindle and Nook, you could also use
Calibre, MobiPocket Reader, Stanza, Adobe Digital Editions, or FBReader
to read eBooks on your PC. There is even an add-on for Firefox that
allows you to read EPUB formatted eBooks as well.

You could read EPUB file without conversion using the Kobo reader
(either a physial ereader, or the app on Windows/Android/iOS), or as
suggested by someone else, you could use Calibre to convert them.

There is no software to download there, only information on the format
of EPUB files.
