SOLVED Dumped files

I've done it now... again. Trying to organize this monster. I had a bunch o' stuff on my desktop including everything I've been working on past and present. I moved all the docs to my documents library. I created a new library, programs, and put all my tools in it. Then I sent all on the desktop to the recycle bin and emptied it. Fatal mistake!

Went to system restore and it indicated programs would be restored, but not docs! Huh? So I clicked on "restore files" and my last backup was four days ago. I virtually live on this machine, working, and I'll lose a lot of material in four days.

This is the first and only place I'm going until I can get my stuff back. I know Piriform has a utility called Recueva or some such. I need something free that works.

Then again, the way I remember system restore, it just moves the OS to an earlier date and everything you had then is what's on the machine. In fact, I'd attempt that if it would help, but the last restore point was the 2nd, so that's not much better than the back-up.

Well, it turns out all is not lost. I can be real goof sometimes. All that was lost were shortcuts to some programs that were on the desktop.
