Im getting message like DATAMN~1.EXE-Corrupt File
The file or directory c:\Documents and settings\user\local settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Preferences is corrupt and unreadable.Please run the chkdsk utility.
im using windows xp professional,i had scanned with AVG anti virus also not getting any threat..,can you help me to get rid of this message...

Now this is a Windows 7 forum, not Win XP but we may be able to help ...

This is most likely adware or other crapware slipped in with some other software/toolbar you installed. Researce says it's part of "MediaBar Datamngr" and can likely just be deleted.

Viruses can cause corrupted files but it could also be as simple as a bad sector on the hard drive where the file was located. Or probably in this case it's just junk that never was fully installed or is adware that luckily isn't working and would best to just delete.
