Cursor freezing for a second.

Hi there

For about a month now, my cursor will freeze for two or three seconds... make the "Device Disconnect" sound, then start moving again.
The odd time, it will do it twice in a row, only the "Device Connect" sound the 2nd time.

My Hard Drives aren't extremely full, I tried installing updates, re-plugging the mouse...

Where could this problem be located and how do I fix it? Is my computer crashing, or is it a device issue?
I had a blue screen maybe two months ago, but it hasn't happened since.

It could be a problem with the USB port. have to tried a different USB port?

When I had this happen to me it was the actual wire to my trackball that was going bad. If a different USB port doesn't help then I would try a new mouse.
