My hp laptop with windows 7 and all that recently started getting the blue screen of death. I don't have any idea why and more importantly, I don't have any idea of how to stop it. Every time it happens, the computer instantly starts back up and all is seemingly well. However, an hour or so later, it crashes again with the blue screen. How can I make this stop for good? I've tried system restore (to no avail) and start-up repair. All startup repair tells me is that there is a corrupt file D: \ci.dll. I don't know what that means, but the problem continues. Also, this is the information that my computer gives me if it helps at all:
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.768.3
Locale ID: 1033
Additional information about the problem:
BCCode: e4
BCP1: 0000000000000001
BCP2: FFFFF880037E1C40
BCP3: 0000000000000000
BCP4: 0000000000000000
OS Version: 6_1_7600
Service Pack: 0_0
Product: 768_1
Also, I don't think that this is caused by overheating, as someone has suggested, because since this started happening I've been doing everything possible to keep my computer cool as possible.
