Copy of Folder appears in the Library.

Just yesterday a copy of a folder C:\Dump (with
all its contents) appears as a copy in the library
under My Pictures.

If I delete this Library copy the C:\Dump is
deleted too.

How can I stop this happening?

It sounds like you want to remove the folder C:\Dump from the My Pictures
library, right?

If so, right click on the My Pictures library in Windows Explorer, then
select Properties. At the top of the dialog that pops up is a list of the
folders included in that library. Highlight C:\Dump and click Remove.

Browse to 'Libraries', right click on 'Pictures' select properties and
if 'C:\Dump' appears in the list of library locations, highlight it and
click remove ...

Many thanks. The 'properties' remove worked OK.
Incidentally the original problem deleted several
folders in the C:\Dump folder, though I can get
them back with a recent offsite backup. There are
still two files in the C:\Dump folder that defy
all efforts to remove them.

I downloaded & tried "MoveOnBoot" but the files

Are they Best Crypt Archive files ?

"BestCrypt creates and supports encrypted virtual disks,
which are visible as regular disks with corresponding drive
letters (for example, D:, K:, Z:, i.e. with any drive letter
that is not used by another system device)."

Now, if that's the case, some Jetico software could have the
file mounted as a virtual file system. And the file would then
be marked as busy, for safety reasons. You'd need to tell the
Jetico software to release the file, or stop mounting it,
in order for it to be delete-able.

Just a guess,

I guess that the Jetico program starts very early on in the boot process
to avoid the attention of MoveOnBoot, getting its hooks into the file
handles before MoveOnBoot finds and moves it. If that is the case,
then, as Asger has suggested, a Linux liveCD is the simplest way round
the problem.

Assuming of course, that the OP really wants the *.bca file to go...

Try Eraser (http://eraser.heidi.ie/ )or MoveOnBoot

Another possibility is that they're something else, _are_ being moved or
deleted, but something is recreating them each time. Is their datestamp
changing?
