COOKIES AND FACEBOOK

Watching live feed of Occupy Wall Street I heard a woman say that Code Pink first wanted to name itself Hot Pink, but that Hot Pink was a porno site. So, of course, I immediately wanted to visit Hot Pink -- ostensibly for pure research. I did so. AND TO MY HORROR there, at the bottom of the page, was my portrait, the text "Logged in as (my name)". And a place to checkmark "Like" for Facebook.

I fled in terror.

So I figure FB must be tracking me with cookies.

THE QUESTION: How do I find those Facebook cookies and crush them like the intrusive dust mites they are? !

Its my understanding that Facebook is not tracking you but instead leaving cookies open for other sites to detect you having a Facebook account. I've read privacy concerns somewhere about these cookies staying active even when you have logged out of Facebook.

Personally I find it a violation for any site to broadcast or detect where I have been. This seems to be the way of the future though. I've noticed several times while browsing, the advertising banners often show where I have been by showing items I have searched for and viewed.

Try using Privacy mode in your browser when visiting Facebook.

Also try using CCleaner to remove (or remove manually) all Facebook cookies after each visit.

Or you might want to try a different browser just for Facebook. Maybe, for example, Chrome plus this.

Or don't use Facebook

I m use IE for Facebook only, and Firefox for the rest
