Computer sleeps or hibernates - Problem

Hi Guys,
have another problem with win7, have tried just about everything to fix it,
including formatting my HDD and reinstalling win7.
What happens if I leave my computer idle for around 15 - 20 mins, when I
come back to use it, it will not respond, for instance my cursor moves
around but nothing normally (95% of the time) happens when I click a
shortcut icon.
I end up shutting it down and restarting it up again, I have been through
all the power management setting, selected 'never' to everything, but to no
avail, wondering if you guys have any ideas

Do you have a setting in the BIOS for sleep or hibernation? Most of the time
you will get a message on startup, "Enter F2 or F1 to enter setup" or BIOS
or something to that affect. You can look in there to see if you have a
setting, remember to write down what you changed settings from and to, so if
there is a problem you can change it back. Also, look to see if there is a
menu selection, F5 (or some other FG key) to restore BIOS to defaults. If
there is then if you cause a problem you can always set everything back to
original. Some BIOS requires you to save and exit, F10 IIRC, in order for
changes to take place, some don't, you just exit BIOS and the settings are
auto-save.

this is a widely known issue with win 7. there currently is no fix. doesn't
matter what graphics card though nvidia seems to be the cause, others have
the same issue with ati based cards.

Hi, Bob.

I don't have a diagnosis or a true fix, but I've noticed that when that
(rarely) happens to me, I can sometimes see the LED on the Power button
blinking. That's the Power button on the computer case, not onscreen - and
not the LED on the hardware Reset button. (I know every computer case is
different, so yours might not look the same at all.)

When I push that Power button momentarily - don't hold it down, but just
press and release - the machine comes out of hibernation (or sleep or
whatever) and I'm back in the program that was running before. ;<)

I can't explain it, but it often works for me. (When I remember it, after
trying everything else I can think of.)

Try it and report back so that others can benefit from the feedback.

Is the display just blank/black, or you see the desktop but it is frozen?
It sometimes happens to me when I leave my computer and come back, I see
the desktop but I can't do anything. It always starts responding again
after waiting for a while though (a few minutes or longer). It appears
like the longer I was away, the longer I need to wait when I get back to
it. It's like it is trying to catch up with something. Of course, it
shouldn't be like this.

checked the bios have no settings unfortunately for sleep or hibernation,
read some that this problem is a fault with win7
