Cause for restore concern?

In the System control panel, there's a last info section:

"Windows Activation"------------------
Windows is activated
Product ID: 00000-OEM-0000000-00000 (zero'd out, obviously)

Should I make note of the product ID? Is it going to be required for a
restore? Maybe it has been copied to the Win7 restore DVDs I made? I dunno!
Just wondering.

The Product ID is not the same as your Product Key. When you enter your
Product Key, a 25 character key in the form xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx,
during installation Windows generates the Product ID.
The Product Key determines what sort of installation you have, in your case
an OEM installation.
There is no point saving your Product ID, you will not need it.
You can however, find and save your Product Key which you might need.
This program will find your Product Key:

Thanks for that bit of magic and the explanations. I printed it out and
tossed it into the computer factory carton in the closet.

Best,

Andy
