I recently installed W7 and had trouble getting it to network fully with a vista machine. I initially had trouble with getting an XP PC to see the W7 and vice versa. I changed the W7 network type to "work" and also turhed off password protected sharing. This allowed the XP and W7 machines to see each other's public folders and to allow the XP machine to access the W7 printers.
I thought I had the problems solved, but the Vista machine is being asked for a user/password by the W7 machine, (and vice versa) I do not want to be required to use passwords.
Why is the Vista machine being asked for user/pass when the XP is not? What do I change to get it working? I suppose it might be an issue with the Vista machine because I NEVER succeeded in eliminating the need for user/pass to access the Vista public folders by the XP machine(s).
