SOLVED Can't open cbs.log file.

HP Pavillion p7-1020. Hard drive failed last year so I replaced it and purchased and installed Windows 7 x64 SP1. Have all updates thru 3-2015. Updates for 4-2015 wouldn't install. Now Update can't search for new updates and gives Error Code 8007370A.

Opened cmd.exe as Administrator and ran sfc /scannow but it couldn't perform the operation. I tried to open the cbs.log file but was denied access even though I'm logged on as Administrator. Used cmd.exe to copy the file to my Desktop but the copy is 0 bytes even though the actual cbs.log file in Windows/Logs/CBS is 11509KB.

What should I try next?

Solved! Somehow the permissions were fouled up. I deleted them then added them back and now I have access.
