Can Win 7 set default printer mode?

I just bought a new printer and its default is to print the pages in
normal order, but it prints them face up so they wind up sorted the
wrong way round (ie. last page on top). There is a mode option by which
I can print in reverse order, but there doesn't seem to be a way to set
that as the default, so every time I print I have remember to set the
"Reverse order" option. The printer is a Brother inkjet model. Is
there a place in Win7 where the default mode is stored?

Look at the Printing Preferences of the printer. Should be an option to
print from the last page or in reverse order (last to first). That
would have the last page on the bottom and the first page on the top.

Printer software often adds its own panels in the Printing Preferences
dialog for the options available for that printer using that software.
You never identified your printer model. Brother is a company name, not
a model number. Even without that info, YOU should be able to look at
the printer's printing preferences to find the option.

If the software installation for the Brother printer, whatever model,
didn't include help files where you could read it to see if it describes
the "print from last page" option (or whatever they happen to call it)
then usually you can go to the manufacturer's web site to download an
online copy of the manual to read that.

I see a "page order", so there might be an option of the right type.

I also see a "Default" button near the bottom, and presumably
that uses the settings you enter, as the default (saves the
settings).

Change the defaults in the printer's control panel, accessible via
Settings > Printers. Whatever you set there will be system defaults, and
_all_ programs that can do printing will use them as default settings.

If you need different printer settings for some print job, you must
reset them within the program, and they will apply to that and any
subsequent print jobs from that program until you shut down the program.
They may or may not stick past shut-down; this is program specific, so
you'll have to find out what happens for each program.

Thanks Wolf. I had tried that but gave up when the printer's Properties
window didn't include a full Settings tab, and there was a "Change
Settings" option which took me back to the original "Printers and
Devices" window. In effect I was caught in a 10 GOTO 10 loop, if that
doesn't date me too badly. Brother makes good printers, but their
software seems deficient.

But after your post I persisted some more and found that by double
clicking the Printer icon (instead of right-clicking and selecting
Properties) I was able to get to a Settings window that included the
fulkl range of settings, and after selecting "Reverse Order" I found
that it stuck as I had wanted it to. So thanks for your help.

You're welcome. Sorry about not warning you that right-click and
left-click offer different settings options.

It dates both of us, but to me it sounds more like

10 GOTO 30
20 (something)
30 GOTO 10

Although judging by many voice menus I've been stuck on, the Brother
approach is really more 21st Century than Fortran is.

(Not really criticizing, just reminiscing.)
