Can only open 1 doc at a time in word 2010

All of a sudden I can only open one document at a time in word 2010. Usually I can have 3-4 documents open and can switch back and forth. Now as soon as I open another, it closes the one previously. Not sure what is going on as I've changed nothing. Am using Windows 7 - IE 10.

I suggest you go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and locate Word 2010 (or Office) and right-click, then choose repair.
