Using Windows 7 with IE 8.

I would like to know which cd/dvd burners are compatible ?

I searched with google. Nero 9 doesn't support .avi any more.

All are probably compatible. Older burners typically have an IDE
(PATA) interface, while newer burners are more likely to have a SATA
interface, but if you're running Windows 7 it's somewhat reasonable to
assume that your system supports both, at least until you tell us
otherwise.

What are you looking for, a CD/DVD burner, or the software you'll need
to take advantage of that hardware?

On my computer, I have an .avi film that I want to burn on a dvd but Nero
9.4.2.6 does not have
..avi in the list of files...

I am looking for a software, similar to Nero, which is compatible with win.7

Well, you can burn it to DVD as a data file just by dragging it into Nero's
compilation window.

If you want to burn it to a DVD as a movie, then you need a video editor
than can import AVI of whichever flavor your particular AVI file is, since
AVI is a container that can hold a few different kinds of video files. The
editor will then render it into a DVD movie.

I've been using ConvertXtoDVD for awhile now and am reasonably happy
with it. Windows 7 32/64-bit are supported.

Ok, I just put my foot in my mouth. Ashampoo does *not* support
..avi--BUT--I loaded an .avi into ImgBurn (also free) and successfully
created an .iso which I could burn. Kind of like going around the back of
your head to get to your nose, but it worked.

In what way does Nero not support AVI. Its just a data file.

Nero is compatible with Windows seven.
Burn it just as a data file But if you want to make a DVD to play on a stand
alone DVD player your avi will need to be converted. If you have the full
Nero 9 you have tools for that, Nero vision. If its just the free or oem
edition It will not. I think the Windows live Movie maker can do DVDs The XP
version could not but I understand that was introduced with the Vista
edition so the WIN 7 should You can down load from MS for free.

Well, in Nero, when I click on the Add button, that takes me to the folder
where
I have the .avi. So I click on it to be added, but Nero says it cannot add
the file,
that is in Nero Vision...

I could easily convert .avi with the 7.5 version but it does not want to
install
on Windows 9, saying that it cannot install the setup.exe file or something
like
that.

To tell the truth, I never convert *to* dvd these days, so I'll just stick
with the free converters to mp4...

I'll keep these in mind for when I revert to my old ways :)

I've got Nero 7.10 running on Windows 7. It installed with no problem. Of
course, if as you say you're trying to install it on "Windows 9" then I can
see your difficulty.
