Hello all !!
I just bought nvidia GeForce GTS 450 card yesterday, updated the driver from the nvidia site, and started to have some Random BSODs mainly when i open or close windows media player while watching a video, also it happens sometime randomly .
my older Video card XFX Geforce 6800 GT had no problems or BSODs at all.

I just reinstalled windows 7 x64
have :
* AMD Phenom (tm) II X2 550 processor 3.10GHz
* MSI 770-G45 motherboard

I appreciate any help, thanks in advance.

Hi,
thanks for posting the dumps.

Please update all drivers to latest versions. This includes chipset, sound and peripheries. I notice your Bios has several updates for memory compatibility so please make sure you have the latest version (one of the dumps pointed to a memory problem). The download page for your bios can be found here:

As Ross rightly says, update drivers:

viahduaa.sys Thu Sep 17 07:04:15 2009
VIA Audio

L1C62x64.sys Mon Jul 27 03:04:36 2009
Atheros L1c PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller

If drivers don't fix you, run memtest overnight:

SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.
Arguments:
Arg1: ffffffffc0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: fffff88003b76ff3, The address that the exception occurred at
Arg3: fffff88002c9a698, Exception Record Address

Thank you very much Ross & cybercore for your replays, i really appreciate it.
now i updated all the dirvers , and re installed the nvidia graphic driver, will run the memtest later tonight.

as for the Bios update, I'm not experienced enough to try and do that, a lot of warninga at the MSI site about updating the bios and not enough instructions,
so i hope it was the other drivers that were causing it, I don't want to mess up the BIOS.

oh and there is another thing i forgot to mention, I'm using a power supply of 350W, and the minimum requirement for the nvidia card is 400W,
can this cause the BSOD? iam running another PC with the same thing but it is running fine without any freezes so i thought that this cant be the reason.

Thanks again for taking the time to look into this. Much appreciated .

Alright, i ran the Memtest yesterday, 6 Passes without any errors at all.
Bought a new expensive Power supply with 500W.
Updated the Drivers.
And I'm still getting the Screens of death, maybe i have to update the BIOS, that's the only thing i haven't done yet,
but i am starting to think that the Nvidia card is defective.

Attached the last dump file,
thanks again cybercore & Ross for trying to help me out. I think i will return that card and get another one.

Memtest should be running 10 passes, and unfortunately it doesn't always detect errors. Check your memory settings in bios.

Remove NVIDIA drivers completely (INCLUDING PhysX) with the use of Driver Sweeper, in safe mode.

Reboot and install the driver again, preferably one from the support CD if you have it.

If it's still crashing, reinstall the OS.

As in my post above but shorter:

1. Reinstall NVIDIA driver
2. Update Atheros L1c PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller
3. Check RAM settings in the bios, as recommended by the manufacturer

Off-topic, but....

When I was reading the title of this thread as "BSODs manly while watching Videos" It always brought a wry smile to my face as I thought I have the same problem.
It's called SWMBO.

FIXED

I can safely say that, thanks to you guys i got ride of the BSODs.

I completely removed The OS, Formatted the HDD,
Reinstalled Windows 7 (Normal one, not the 64 one like the previous, i don't really need the extra 800MB Ram, got 4GB installed ).
Updated the drivers with clean fresh downloads from the official sites, and Updated the BIOS.

Running for 24 hours now, doing all kind of graphics related stuff, ultra setting to the games and all is good, no sign of the dreaded BSOD.
yeah, now we will never know what caused the problem, but as long as it is gone, I'm happy .

Thanks again to everyone for their time and for their informative posts, i truly appreciate it.

- It might pay you off if that 800 Mb stride is defective and won't be used now and therefore won't be crashing you. If the ram is really defective, you need to fix it. Then install 64-bit and be happy.

Sawamura - both the 32-bit and 64-bit are "normal" operating systems.

Since you stated that you have updated your BIOS to the latest firmware version then it would really be best to install the 64-bit OS. Your system will run better and you'll be able to take full advantage of the RAM you currently have.

You'll never really be able to fully appreciate the full potential of Windows 7 unless you go the 64-bit route. However, that is my humble opinion too.

I just can't agree that the 32-bit crashes less nor do I approve the willingess to have 800 Mb unusable. If the RAM (or other hardware) is defective it'll BSOD on the 32-bit just as well, sooner or later.
