Hello,
For no apparent reason my HP all-in-one using windows 7 experienced a BSOD. It only happens when the computer goes into sleep mode. After hitting the space bar to wake it up the screen returns but as soon as I move the mouse BAM. Can anyone help me with this. I do not want to bring this anywhere or anyone do a remote repair. Thanks

Vince

You are running W7 on a 1GB machine? I would hope it is the 32-bit version.

Sleep was not really a feature of most old machines. It is important you check with HP and get the latest drivers and very likely you also need to update the BIOS.

You didn't specify the model number so I can't really direct you more than HP.com.

If you want more help than that with your BSOD it is important you read through the posts in this thread >>HERE<<.

Is your W7 32-bit or 64-bit, you never said?

Your drivers should be HERE. There are only a few so it should be easy to update. I don't see a BIOS update.

And you need to read the thread I linked above. In that thread is another link on how to enable minidumps. There is nothing more I can suggest without that info.

It is a 64 bit system. Also I turned off sleep mode but left the harddrive @ 15 minutes. I set my screen to turn off ater 10 minutes of non use. After 15 minutes there was no BSOD. But I am sure the problem still exists but for now it appears ok.

If the specs you have listed are correct, you really should add more memory. Microsoft's minimum recommended RAM for 64-bit is 2GB not 1GB.

I have disabled sleep on mine because it never will wake up. Sometimes older machines just don't handle sleep well; some will after a BIOS update. But for some people just setting their network adapter (NIC) in device manager so that it never sleeps is enough to make it work for them.

You didn't say whether you updated your drivers or not but you definitely should do that.
