Hi,
I've been having intermittant BSOD issues since i put this computer together on 12/28/11. I've tried a reformat and have run memtest86+ with no issues. After using BlueSceenView it seems that ntoskrnl.exe is the common denominator between all the STOP messages. I've never had an issue with BSOD before so im treading new terrirtory. Attached is all the required information. Thanks in advance,

Your ram is set wrong. Your ram according to your CPU-z screenshot is DDR3 1600. It should be running at 800 mhz. per stick, not 400 mhz. like it currently is. You need to set the bios to either Standard Defaults or Optimized Defaults, then hit F10 and select yes. It will restart, press Delete key and go back in the bios and change any tweaks you mde there. Now have a look at the ram timings in the bios now and if any are different from what CPU-z showed in the SPD tab for 800 mhz. change them to match the timings in CPU-s's SPD tab, press F10 and select Yes. In Windows re-run CPU-z and now look at the memory tab. Does it match the SPD tabs 800 mhz. It should. Also in the bios make sure to set your ram back to Unganged, so it run's in dual-channel. That will probably take care of youur bsod's, unless if you also have any outdated driver's.

Thats weird. when i put my computer together origionally i noticed that the bios had defaulted my ram to 1333. 666mhz per stick. so i turned it up to 1600. when i went back to the bios it was already reading 1600! how is it possible my cpu-z what reading 400 when it was already set to 800? anyways i set my bios back to default and redid all my changes, now when i booted up it reads 798mhz. weird. im messing around with the timings now. currently i have everything set to auto in my bios.

I will update this when/if i do get another blue screen. currently everything is reading properly. my timings are set to 9 - 9 - 9 - 25 - 40 - 2t @ 800mhz so everything is running normal for now. Thank you for your input and hopefully this solved my issue!

Do yourself a favor. Alot of bios's mess up the ram timings, when you leave it at Auto. You've got G-Skill Ripjaws correct ? Set it to CL 9.0,tRCD 9, tRP 9, tRAS 24, tRC 40 and CR 2T. Also, your bios had your FSB Ram off, too. Set that to 1:4 I also have G-Skill Ripjaws ram and those are G-Skill's settings for it

ok i ll do that upon my next restart. once again thanks for your help. im dissapointed to have overlooked such a simple issue but when you change a setting in bios, you expect it to apply (in this case it underclocked my ram lol). ill know within the next 2 weeks if im problem free. the lockups were pretty infrequent.

That's ok. it's how we learn. Trial & error. when I was building my 1st pc (08/2010), everyone said to remove the plastic piece near where the cpu goes. I did that 5 or 6 times. P roblem is, that was a step for Intel chipset mobo's. On AMD mobo's, it breaks the mobo's cpu holder. That was a lesson I learned the hard way. Now I'm in constant upgrade mode. Only 3 possibilities left. 2nd video card for Crossfire. That is the 1 I want to do, but my video card is factory overclocked. It's been out of stock since December. All the other HD 6950's available, have lower setting's and lower-market fan's for cooling them. Thus, not a option.. 990FX AM3+ mobo & Bulldozer cpu upgrade. Not enough of a performance improvement over my Phenom 2 1100T, Add that Windows 7 can't utilize enough of the Bulldozer's newer architecture to get any performance gains. Windows 8 supposably does, but I haven't seen enough proof as Win 8 is still in testing and not near final version capabilities yet. Those 2 upgrades are on hold for about 8 or 9 month's..

Thats right - trial and error. Next thing id like to try is a water cooled system. My computer always picks up alot of dust and i feel enough is enough. I update frequently also. I'd rather buy cheap stuff and keep upgrading then spend 1100 on something that will be equally worthless in 2 years anyways. I do like the new bulldozer microarchitechture tho. It's too bad w7 doesn't fully support it as you said, As with anything microsoft - in due time.

I bought a Corsair Hydro Series H80 back in December, when Newegg was out of my video card. I absolutely love it. Real easy install. My cpu stay's around 29-30 degrees celcius. My pc's been being slowly updated since I built it in 08/2010. The only options I have left other than the 2nd video card, mobo. and cpu are: New speaker's (current one's 2005 era), sound card, 2nd ssd for raid 0, newer tv tuner/cable card and a 2nd monitor. I still need to put all my old part's from this pc together in another case I have. I'm waiting until after I move in a few month's for that one.

In your bios the NB Frequency should be 2000.* mhz. Either set it to default or use the + or - keys on the right side of your keyboard to change them. Also, double-check that all your driver's are up to date. For one's like Realtek, etc. go to their website. Don't use Asrock's for sound, lan or video. Go to the specific maker's site for those. Your video card driver's should be Catalyst 12.1 . In 1-2 1/2 weeks that will change as AMD put's out new video card driver's every month. Also, what antivirus/antispyware/internet security product's are you using ? Certain one's are notorious bsod causer's. AVG top's the list there. If you use that, ditch it.

Hey, thanks again for your help brk. My FSB was already set to 2000 in my bios. I expect the rsulting discrepancy is related to the same reason my ram reads 798.2mhz instead of 800mhz(similar to the discrepancy you get with hard drives i.e 1 gig = 1024 mb's). I have downloaded and installed new Realtek lan drivers(i already had but slightly out of date) the Realtek HD audio codecs (you were right, the ones i had were asrocks). My CCC was already 12.1 as i try to keep that up to date. everything else listed on the asrock site is completely up to date except for my bios. I'm currently not using any antivirus software as i know it causes issues with blue screens. I originally had AVG with my first format but didn't reinstall as a measure of troubleshooting, so currently no antivirus software at this time. appreciate your time spent digging up them links =P
Oh, on i side note something i forgot to mention. I had restarted my computer because there was no sound(there was no X through my speaker icon in the start up tray). The resulting start-up is what produced the most recent blue screen. I didnt think much of it because i figured my dog might have just unplugged the wire from my subwoofer. After an inspection everything was still plugged in. Also im open to any AV recommendations as i never cared much for AVG.

Make sure when you install any driver's to disable your active antivirus/antispyware app's first. Install the driver, restart your pc and re-enable the antivirus/antispyware app's. That's only for the ones with real-time protection enabled. Download Microsoft Security Essentials from: http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/mse.aspx Install it, let it update & run a full scan. MSE doesn't cause bsod's. Then go to http://www.malwarebytes.org and download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware free. Install and let it update itself. Then boot into Safe Mode (F8 key during startup) and do a full scan with Malwarebytes. Let it remove any infection's it finds and restart your pc. Now go to http://superantispyware.com/ and download SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition. Install it and let it update. Boot back into Safe Mode and run a full scan with SUPERAntiSpyware and let it remove what it finds and restart your pc again. The bsod's should be gone after that. If they aren't start searching for update's for your software. It could also be a bad ram stick. Try running Windows Memory Diagnostic or Memtest86+ from : http://www.memtest.org/ Each ram stick need's to be tested seperately for accurate results. If any error's occur, you have a bad ram stick. That will cause bsod's.
