Boot Disc

So, I looked for an answer to this but I couldn't really find one.
When I used the Windows 7 back-up feature, it had me make a boot disc.
Can I just put this disc away in a safe place and keep backing up my
system to my external HDD? Or do I need a new boot disc every time I
back up my disc?

Also, I've found several other back up programs (freeware).
I downloaded DriveImage XML. Has anyone used this program?
I'm sure there are many programs out there that are better than
Windows 7 built in back up program. I mean, after all, we ARE talking
about Micro$oft. : )

The boot disk lets you run the backup program to restore from the backup
disk to your internal disk or to a new disk when you can't boot from the
internal disk.

You can make a new CD each time if you'd like, but that would be silly.

The word is Microsoft.
