Got an odd little problem here under Win 7 Pro x64. I use Everest
Ultimate, ver. 5.30.1900, have the OSD set up like I want, and it works
fine. But on bootup, most of the time only the first 5 items of the OSD
show. I can go to Configure, make any change, click Apply then the full
list appears. On rare occasions, W7 will boot with the full OSD list
showing.
Another thing I thing that might be related (as a W7 oddity that causes the
first glitch), is the nVidia Control Panel will NOT load a saved preset to
set GPU fan speed when it boots. So every time I boot the system, I have to
either run NV Profile (CTL-ALT-H opens it) and load the profile myself, or
open the nVidia control panel, Performance, and set GPU fan to Manual
control and the speed, OK, close, it executes and fan speed increases
(default speed of 45% is not enough in 85F ambient). I close the NV control
panel, and it asks me if I want to apply this on Windows Startup. I click
YES, but may as well have clicked NO. Because on boot, fan speed is always
Default (45%).
When I installed W7, some of the first things I did before installing any
software are:
Disable Defender
Disable UAC
Disable Indexing
Disable Windows Autoupdater
Disable ALL Remote crap
Yes I do know to be sure and execute the driver and program installers by
right click "Run As Administrator" and do so.
So, any ideas how to fix these two little glitches? I don't get these
problems with XP Pro x64 SP2 at all. Ever.
M$ did create a great OS with Win 7. And also created a number of irksome
ways to screw it up!
TIA
McG.
