Well, it's caused by atimdag.sys

Try uninstalling all ATI utilities.

Yeap, they were all as one caused by the ATI driver:

BugCheck 3B, {c0000005, fffff880049cd20f, fffff8800b85d6a0, 0}

1. ATI:

AtihdW76.sys Mon Aug 16 13:41:02 2010
Atikmdag.sys Wed Sep 29 04:41:26 2010

Uninstall it, reboot in safe mode and clean its remnants with http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/

Then install it, the same one or the latest version if available for your card.

2. If crashes persist, uninstall or update this notorious sptd.sys (Daemon Tools):

uninstall with http://www.duplexsecure.com/download/SPTDinst-v174-x64.exe

install the latest http://www.duplexsecure.com/download/SPTDinst-v174-x64.exe

3. Get all the patches and updates for Mass Effect.

4. Finally, if crashes persist test your hardware:

a) RAM http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html

b) VGA http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/ + http://majorgeeks.com/Video_Memory_Stress_Test__d5896.html

Thanks so much for the help.
I'll try these and see how it goes.

update: just reinstall w7 x64 with latest driver catalyst 10.10 and no daemon tools. The same BSOD happened.
Run memtest for 1 pass. no error found. I'm gonna run more passes when time allows.

I'll keep you guys posted.

The MB is ASRock 870 Extreme 3 with bios P1.50 btw.

You should really let memtest run overnight, at least 7 passes, but the more the better.

ATI - good if it's updated now, but it would have been even better to uninstall the old driver and clean with Driver Sweeper.

Also check for updates for this device :

This thread deserves a bump because I ran into the exact same problem.

I read for another similar problem with a different file invoked that only a video BIOS update solved issue.

The build is completely new (3 days old) and I followed the steps mentioned above. I'd like you to acknowledge that it's not a hardware but a software problem.

Any assistance would be appreciated because this completely handicaps the monster I just built.

I tried the >disable crossfire workaround, for the record - this gives out another bug where one of the two monitors I'm using depending on the port they're hooked up to goes dimmer than the other.

Here's the dump, followed by a link of the AMD board.

http://www.filefactory.com/file/b4459a7/n/dump.zip

http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=262&threadid=141925

I'm using a Powercolor and a Sapphire GPU - it was meant to be a twin Sapphire setup but Newegg ran out of them, so I had to do with one. All the crashes I've had are linked to GPU activity, nothing else.

I don't do Crossfire since I'm not a huge gaming type person, but from what I understand is that it's best to use the same brand, model, etc., of video cards on a Crossfire configuration. I may be wrong as rain, but that may be your problem.

Yes, that is recommended to rid yourself of possible hardware issues. However...

Hence me mentioning the BIOS issue. Both are reference boards after all (same design, same hardware, same speeds and everything else). GPU-Z reports however that they're not using the same BIOS, and Powercolor recommended (see link above) to that user that he flashes both his card's BIOSes.

May be completely unrelated but I'm putting my money on this or simple/typical ATI driver ****ups. I wish they'd test their damn stuff sometimes.

For the record I didn't do Crossfire until now either, that's my first twin GPU build.

If you want to attach the dump here by using the paperclip above where you type in advanced mode reply, I'll have a look.

There. WAH WAH WAH WAH ( extra chars )

The workaround (disabling Crossfire in the in Catalyst) works, just FYI, I resolved the dim issue.

1) Uninstall Daemon Tools. Then, remove sptd.sys with this uninstaller. Be sure to choose uninstall while using:

DuplexSecure - Downloads

Reboot and install PowerISO as a replacement. The disc emulation is free forever;

http://PowerISO.com

2) Update this ancient ATK0110 driver from my attachment:

ASACPI ASACPI.sys Sun Mar 27 22:30:36 2005

3) Uninstall ANOD network security. The driver is too old for Windows 7:

anodlwfx anodlwfx.sys Fri Mar 06 05:10:08 2009

4) Update your D-Link wireless adapter driver from their website:

Dnetr28ux Dnetr28ux.sys Tue Sep 15 00:36:45 2009

---------

Enjoy.

I'm under the impression that all the good drivers you mention were replaced by a Windows update that followed their installation.

With all due respect, I'm not interested in explaining to you why you have to do what you have to do to fix your machine. Again, I posted how to fix it so please follow and enjoy.

If you brought your machine to the shop, they would charge hundreds of dollars and they still would not have a big discussion over things about it.

Simply follow my post for success and enjoy. Good luck.

If you don't know what the ANOD software is, then navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers and delete the driver and reboot.

Re-install the latest video card driver without uninstalling it first, if needed when all done with everything.

Well I'm doing it, I just don't know what ANOD's all about, as I have no security suite installed aside from Security Essentials, which you probably know is what Microsoft offers as a free download through the update system.

And you're assuming that this is going to fix the crash, let me complete the process and we'll see after, alright?

Edit: thanks for the addendum.

Yes, if all followed well, the machine will be well.

Just make sure you're only using one Crossfire bridge if you are using 2, if problems persist after.

And also make sure that the psu is well enough for the system with Crossfire.

Is the driver D-LINK offers (through the adapter's page) outdated? I'm rebooting now (ANOD deleted and Wireless adapter reinstalled), I'll reinstall the video drivers after.

It's a 750W Thermaltake PSU. It's rated to be able to take two SLI cards from its era (which were more power hungry than what I'm using right now - although I might be using too many drives. I dunno, if that turns out to be the issue then hnnng me, I always have PSU problems, I just don't understand why it would bluescreen rather then simply die like my comps used to when I had a power shortage - and that was during the build process. I paid 200 dollars for that thing and expected longevity! >:|

Reminder: it does work with Crossfire disabled through software and re-enabled while ingame, it's if I try to boot a game with Crossfire on it goes awry.
