Hello, my name is mike and I saw a tech video on youtube (20 Amazing Windows 7 Performance Boosting Tips - YouTube) I followed most of them but after a system restart I started having problems. I believe the culprit was glary utilities. My number 2 guess would be malwarebytes. I now have a long list of issues. First thing that I noticed was that my backup was missing. Upon research I found that the most recent restore point is usually overwritten with alot of dll changes and a restart. So let me name the issues
flash videos dont load or lock browser but not every time, video wont play from wmplayer unless i open the library then select open with wmplayer, youtube hangs alot (I have a 3.1 duo with 8gb ram), other glitches with zoom level meant that i had to upgrade firefox, now i have to zoom on every page, my icons used to be pictures of the item (i undid that tweak) but it did not fix my icons in all instances. if i try to play videos that i have saved, I get 2 or 3 different errors saying server execution failed my research says that my ram is being used for other things.
MY ATTEMPTED FIXES ARE : 5 system restores, java uninstall then reinstall 2 or 3 times, flash player uninstall reinstall 5 or six times, glary restore to undo changes made, then glary uninstall- i thought there might be a conflict with tweaknow2012 that i run 2 or 3 times a week,
I also have ActiveX problems and certain right click menus no longer pop up like for personalize or screen resolution (no such interface supported) AT THIS POINT I AM REALLY RUNNING OUT OF PATIENCE TO RESEARCH ANYMORE DEADENDS PLEASE HELP GUIDE ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE MIKEB
Acer Aspire X3400G amd athlon II x2 255processor/ 8 gb ddr3 ram/ on 64 bit win 7 sp 1/ Geforce 9200 256 stock graphix card

My first hunch: it sounds like a good possibility you have a virus. Download RKILL from our freeware DB (see virus removal at the bottom of the list). Then reboot into safe mode (without network support). Run a few versions of the RKILL program. Then, still in safe mode and without rebooting, run a full Malwarebytes scan.

Let us know if it finds anything.

sorry about the time lapse. tried that (rkill) and tried to reboot but couldnt access safe mode. did startup recovery. no help there. msconfig-boot-minimal 'd hope you follow. restarted in safe but then rkills would not run. tried malwarebytes it said out of date wish to update clickd yes it supposedly updated and ran a whole system scan in about 3 seconds, and found nothing. ran superantispyware free. it wouldnt run. then ran tdsskiller.exe- nothin. what could affect directx, flashplayer, right click menus, wmp, realplayer, system restore points, zoom settings, disabled IE and make ff zoom to 500k, and get 'no such interface supported' and 'server execution failed' errors? PLEASE HELP

You have got to get into safe mode, all of this has to be done in safe mode. Some viruses are smart enough to block an anti-virus scan; that's why TDSSKiller and RKILL should run BEFORE you run Malwarebytes. RKILL has several different exe versions; did you try more than one? Be sure to try the RKILLs named explorer.exe and iexplore.exe. Then run Malwarebytes. Again this all must be in safe mode.

If you are ready to completely loose everything you could simply format the hard drive and reinstall W7 from a W7 DVD. But that is drastic, like I said you would loose everything, your programs, data, contacts, bookmarks, all email except web-based, everything. You would be starting with an empty computer and have to reinstall everything from dvds and the only data you would have is any you had backed up.
