Anyone know how long the answer forums are going to be down for this

You can't update TOTALLY USELESS to EVEN MORE TOTALLY USELESS, it's
just not possible. But they did it, didn't they?

Which "answer forums" are those? (Yes, it's an honest question.)

Did I read somewhere that we are going have to access Microsoft's Answer
forums through the Web and can no longer do it through our newsreader?
I just went to the Anwer forums on the Web and they were not only very
slow but somebody picked a really light gray for the message information
which is very hard to read. I tried to submit forum feedback regarding
the new look but could not even get into that. Microsoft may be getting
an ear full. I wish people would quit concentrating eye candy and
contentrate on getting the information out.

I can't access it using the Community bridge. IIRC, it's not going to be
available that way any more :-(
I hope they do something to speed it up, because it is certainly a real dog
right now. It was bad before, but to put it in Bart Simpson terms, it sucks
and blows. The notice earlier on the old site was that it was going to be
intermittently 'read only,' so that's probably part of it, but I haven't
noticed much improvement throughout the day.

Alas, what you read somewhere is exactly right, as of a couple of
hours ago.

I totally agree. The site is actually unusable. Links don't go
anywhere. I don't know who Microsoft's Software Quality Manager is;
but I could take his job, not work another day in my life, and do no
worse.

It was crap getting it by Community Bridge any way so good riddance!

Microsoft should start investing in its Forums so that they become more
user friendly, easy to search, and sorting should also be improved. If
Microsoft can't do this then it should outsource the service so that
somebody better qualified can do it for them for a fee of course!

Why can't Microsoft use phpBB, vBulletin, bbPress, Jives or something
else that can be adapted to suit user's needs.

Looks like they didn't even get the "eye candy" part right. :)

Or even -- gasp! -- newsgroups? Oh wait, they tried that and then
when they discovered they couldn't control Usenet they gathered up
their marbles and flounced home.

You'd think Microsoft would have posted that somewhere, maybe a sticky note
in the forum itself. They certainly sent out enough posts when the
newsgroups were being turned off.
I'm not real crazy about the new look and a few other things, but everything
is so screwed up on it right now, I'll let the dust settle before trying the
"tell us what you think" link again. Last time I tried it, there was a 2-3
minute wait before the standard "link not found" message came up. It let me
log in, but when I clicked on my profile name, my profile could not be
found. Seriously? It let me log in!

Ah well, gotta love a good restructuring :)

You mean, when they were turning off their newsgroup portals. It is
a canard to talk of Microsoft turning off newsgroups; fortunately
that is not among its powers.

And I'm sure you and everyone else who read it knew exactly what I meant.
And if not, then a full explanation wouldn't do them much better :)
