alcohol120 in W7?

Anyone know how to run Alcohol 120 in W7? It won't run because of
compatibility problems even though I selected to run as XP.

Thanks.

Just came from XP to Vista and Alcohol120% was one of the programs just
wouldn't work. Apparently you need a later version for Vista. I now have
that later version and it's working but am also wondering if I upgrade to 7
if I'll end up going thru the same thing again?

That is what their support just told me. I would need to purchase either
a year of updates or a lifetime of updates.

Did support actually state latest version works in Windows 7?

I have version 2.0.1 which works under Windows 7.
Yes, that is the latest version. I have version 1.9.6.4719 which does
not. Their support wrote back:
I am sorry but the version you have is not windows 7 compatible and you would need to update to another years free updates or a life time license
So one needs to purchase an update every year or a lifetime update. You
too will need to do that when W 8 comes up next year.

Don't think so. Not overly happy that even new to me pc is running Vista and
I have a strong inclination to revert back to XP. Running Win7 in a VM
hasn't exactly impressed me as it seems more MS BS, e.g. don't make it
better just change it for changes sake. They're trying to make it like a car
where somehow ego is involved in running the latest and greatest so you
"want" to upgrade. I don't, was happy was it was and can live with way it is
now. Just fix the GD problems in "this" version.

Vista was terrible. Windows 7 is much better. I too was reluctant to
leave XP but was forced to and now I like W7 better. I even set up an
emulated XP for the occasional programs that might refuse to work in W7
(most do just fine) but have not used it in months.

I have 98SE, XP Pro and Win7 Enterprise all working in Virtual PC. Started
doing that when DVDx wouldn't work under Vista and the new DVDx 4 is
crippled in it's output resolution unless one pays so easy workaround. 98SE
already had license etc. for and small footprint anyway so why not. MS
provided a downloable vm hard disk image for the Win7 environment although
it's "unactivated" so only good for so many days. For my usage though and
as they point out, throw away any changes and it'll last forever by
reverting back each time is all I want it for right now.
