Alarm Clock

Perhaps I'll run across someone here who had Atomic Alarm Clock in XP.
I have it and I dual boot XP and Windows 7 (64 bit). The app won't work in
Windows 7 and the author does not intend to support it.

That's too bad because I like it a lot. You can set up alarms/reminders for
any ocassion. It allows hourly, weekly, monthly, yearly and one time only
alarms. It pops up a message and/or plays a sound at the designated time.
I have an hourly chime, for instance. All my doctor's and other
appointments are all scheduled a day ahead as reminders. Several of my
friends and relatives' birthdays are in there.

I can't find *anything* that even comes close for Wndows 7. The closest I
have found is Alarm Master Plus, but it lacks the hourly feature. One
feature it does have that's impressive is a text to voice converter that
will "say" your message. It works with a pleasant female voice. You have to
improvise a bit in certain cases... (it's 7 o'cloc kay em) or (it's 7
o'clock pee m). But it works. Unfortunately I want the houly feature and it
isn't there.

I've checked out Citrus Alarm Clock and Rainlendar. They don't even come
close. I can't believe as popular as that Atomic Alarm Clock is that
someone doesn't develop something similar for Windows 7.

Maybe someone does. Has anyone here come across anything like this?

I use Chameleon Clock under Windows 7 64 bit.
Chameleon Clock seems to be out of production now but I've used it since
Windows 3.1 and it still works OK with Windows 7 64 bit . Price $29.99.

I'm fairly elderly and rely on Chameleon Clock for reminders & alarms.

I stopped using my pc or laptop for this. I use my smartphone.

I have a simpler solution that is limited to some. RETIRE! <G>

A Boston clock radio is actually what I use when I can't avoid getting
up and so forth at a specific time. It's based on the old Koss/KLH
radio. Otherwise, a smartphone works if I'm on the road.

Before that I had an older model HP Laptop that had a built in clock
alarm that was independent of the Ops system. Sadly, it died about five
or six years ago. None of the newer models had the same feature.

If one is retired at retirement age, then one has doctor appointments
lots of them. :)

I use Stoic Joker's Tclock in Windows 7 x64. I don't know if it will do
exactly what you want, but it does have alarm and hourly features.

The link you provided to Atomic Alarm Clock says that it works with Windows
7, but the OP is also talking about Atomic Alarm Clock, and says it
doesn't/won't work with Windows 7. It must be the same program, don't you
think?

I don't know. The name is fairly generic so more than one program might use
it.
Besides, it's free so no harm in trying it!

Thanks for that - I've been trying to find a better version of TClock
for a while. I've been using TClockEX for years, but it's display is a
little funky. This one looks pretty good.

Ah yes. That's the one I have in XP and love it. But contrary to what it
says in the description on that page, it will not run in Windows 7. If you
scroll down that page a bit, you'll see comments to that effect,

The comments are right. I installed it myself and it wouldn't run. I had
made the mistake of paying for it too and getting my money back wasn't easy
although I finally did.

It's free to try, $29.95 to buy.

See my other reply. The $29.95 was hard to get back.

I'm elderly enough myself! (73). I will give it a try. Thanks!
Did you know the old version of paintbrush (pbrush.exe) will still work in
Windows 7 32 bit? Unfortunately not in the 64 bit version though. The more
Micro$oft tried to improve that, the complicateder it got... :)

Although I no longer use either, in my view TClock has always been
*much* better than TClockex.
