Again, many thanks!

I just added aioe.org to my nntp accounts in WLM. I went to
eternal-september.org, but couldn't figure out what to do once I landed on
their site. When I got there, I saw a photo and the eternal-september.org
banner, but there was nothing else on the page. So far I am pleased though
that aioe.org is working for me and as a direct replacement for the Cox nntp
server, it seems that it will do the job. This is exactly what I was
looking for.

So, I say again...

Thanks to you all. I'm BAaaaaack!

I didn't sign up because my Charter news server is still working for me
(for now), but I went to the eternal-september site and didn't have any
trouble finding technical information and a registration form. (Yes, you
have register!)

I haven't heard anything about Charter dropping their news service, have
you? I've been using it to access the MS.public groups since MS announced
they were discontinuing theirs with no problems. I was using aioe.org to
access this group since Charter's earlier connection to it was tenuous at
best, but it has improved over the past few months.

No, I haven't heard anything, but with Charter the surprises are usually
unpleasant. I have eternal-september and aioe bookmarked should the need
arise.

I am using the Charter news server for both Usenet groups (like this
one) and MS public newsgroups because I didn't see any point in setting
up two servers when one would do. I don't know what will happen to the
MS public groups that are hosted by third parties (like Charter) when MS
pulls the plug. I suspect they will disappear.

They should be unaffected as long as people keep posting to them,
they're very wide spread on many, many news servers, not just
Microsoft's.

I stopped using MSFT's servers sometime back as Eternal-September seems
to carry any of the MSFT groups that I follow and, as long as there are
Linux trolls those groups will have lots of postings! <sigh>

Unless Linux trolls grow up and that's not going to happen.....

I have now added both of the suggestions given to me and believe that
eternal-september.org is probably the better choice. Both set up easily,
but it looks like aioe.org doesn't have the same retention as
eternal-september.org. At least from what I could see, in
eternal-september.org there is much more history.

Thanks again! You all R O C K ! ! !
