Oh, I hate computers. Can't get the damned things to work when I want 'em to work or do what I want 'em to do when I want it! I'm gonna die in this place fidlle-fartin' around with these accursed machines!

:motz:

Sorry, now that's off my chest. I'm on my laptop at the moment. I'm trying to get ready for this con and I noticed one of the docs I intended to use didn't print the back side. I had this brick connected to the printer once. Now I can only print from my desktop in my "office," but now I get a "check source and connection," but it was fine last night. I'm too damned old, stupid and broken to chase these damned wires down.

I unplugged all of my connecting devices, one by one, for 30 seconds and still no luck.

:banghead:

Many times it's not the computer's fault so far as double-sided printing is concerned. You have to go into the printer properties and select double-sided printing to enable it to print on both sides of the paper.

Not clear? My present quandary isn't with the printer (though I have my share of those as well), it's with the "check source and connection." I didn't change anything and suddenly I have no signal to my monitor.

Fiddled a bit today and got printing from my laptop. Yay!

But this place I live in... my own fault, really. Don't know what's worse, the static or the dirt. Can't seem to keep ahead o' either.

My skin's rotten, my teeth are bad, knees, feet, bladder and bowels and sinuses givin' me fits. Eyes and ears ain't so hot either. Never been particularly handy (unlike my Dad) and I bleed rather than bruise. The VA has me on a ton o' meds and my brain is mush. And, as you can probably tell from my posts, I'm severely OCD. Pile a good dose of PTSD on that and the magoo is a mess!

I'm the son of a redneck and I'm too damned old and stubborn to change my ways.

I'm turnin' nasty mean, any noise makes me jump and I'm likely to kill someone at the drop of a pin.

I know I need help and it's a' comin', but I'm about outta patience.

Still no activity on my big monitor and I can't get these machines linked.

My realtor is looking for someone to take my lease here and find me a place more countrified place after my con at the end o' the month.

I need to go renew some meds and make an appointment at the VA clinic.

:itsme:

Had to come back in and fix my post. Grrrr....

Whoa! Now Magoo, tell us how you really feel and how you really are! LOL!

At least you're able to poke fun at yourself. As Jimmy Buffet once said in one of his songs: ...if we could not laugh; we would all go insane!

yodap pointed me to a bit of software that's likely to help a lot with my issues, but I think I need to settle this no sig to the monitor issue with my desktop first. Lemme go crawl under there and try and figure out my connections so I can give you guys a better picture.

OK. My monitor, a Westinghouse LCM 22w2, is connected to the case (HP 6620f) with a power cord to the surge protector. The signal comes into my Belkin router. There is a wire off the signal wire (from Swift Wireless) that connects to a Motorola Transformer(?). The belkin is connected to the case and there's another connection to a Voipo router. I have a wireless Logitech k520 keyboard and mouse in which I've plced fresh batteries (I think - the mouse is lit and the keyboard has a green "on" light that goes out when a key is pressed).

Figured I'd check the instructions on my monitor, since that's all I've fiddled with. FM. Couldn't make any headway. Every time I'd get a menu, it would shut off before I could make any adjustment.I figure, "well I'll just turn off the connection, leave power to the monitor and see what happens." Hit the power button on the case and before it shuts sown, the monitor flares up, black screen, with options for shut-down and start-up. I started it in safe mode, then restarted it and here I am.

I'm starting to hate anything more modern then a valve radio,My system keeps loosing it's settings for the surround speakers and I don't know why.
We've just also bought a surround sound system for our TV viewing pleasure, more like pain as we've discovered it has more damm settings to it then your average PC and what works for one program/show/source/media does not necessarily work for another. Sheesh.
