2 min. at Welcome

Since reinstalling (Win7 Premium SP1) I get at "Welcome"
(1) a small circular icon (clock?) with one hand at 12,
(2) text "2 min"
but no serious delays (let alone 2 min) before the password
field is opened.

Where did this come from? and why does it persist?

I've no idea what this icon is but it sounds like you have an Acer machine.

It's an easy fix as it's just a background wallpaper.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\oobe\Info. Rename the Folder Backgrounds to Backgroundsold or whatever name you wish! Create a new folder called Backgrounds & copy the contents of Backgrounds-NOWAIT into it!
Restart the PC & all should be well
